DESCRIPTION:
The CEBM is launching another project! The LEGO RESOURCE PACKAGE can have great potential in supporting students both in the classroom and in Nurturing Support Centres (NSC)/Intervention Rooms with teachers and support staff. LEGO is often undervalued and minimally used both in working through emotions and in learning contexts. Â Â Our students with emotional and behavioral challenges often gravitate towards building & creating, how can we increase the value of our intervention and support?
Â
LEGOs can be: Â
a quiet brain break activity that will help students ‘reset’ and be more available for additional learningÂ
a medium to go ‘hands on’ with learning - reducing felt vulnerability and defenses triggered by learning struggles/challengesÂ
an opportunity to ‘play out’ emotions, problem-solve situations without repercussion or fall outÂ
an agent of change, a problem-solving venue, inspire creativityÂ
This project consists of a wide array of activities, challenges and links that have been gathered for students from K4-Cycle 3. Many will also be enjoyed and found challenging with Cycle 1 High School students.Â
Please come and join us in our journey to bridge challenges and help our students work through emotional hurdles. Â We also look forward to hearing of your initiatives using LEGO as an intervention medium and other building & creating materials!
