DESCRIPTION: Priming attachments when working with multiply challenged students can be difficult. However, this is a key entry point when we want students to follow our cues. When they are not in connection with us, we can see increased counterwill and defenses. How we approach counterwill can have a great impact on how long and how difficult a situation can become. This session will provide insight into the counterwill instinct and look at intervention strategies to help reduce its challenging impact.
As a foundation to making sense of emotions with students who are multiply challenged, participants are asked to view the recording of the session Emotions are Emotions, presented by CEBM on Feb. 23, 2022.
